A civilized war?

In Partiot, we are all amused by the so-called civilized war. Soldiers from both sides march forward like toy soldiers and the war is more like a ridiculous play while this play is full of blood and death.
Why people in that age adopt such absurd methods? To be civilized? Well, for me, trying to behave in a civilized way is an absolute satire to the cruelty of the war. What's your opinion?

Err … for me, I think a civilized way in a war maybe…we try to avoid the war. When two countries or groups of people fight against each other over a period of time, we can never say it is civilized. It may hurt the opposite, but it also may hurt oneself. For whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee.
